Are Backlinks Really Necessary?
September 25, 2008
The answer is yes.
When some links to you its shows Google (and the world for that matter) that your site has value.
Think about it
Who would link to a useless site? Would you post a link to one of the spammy little Adsense pages? You know the ones - Google has been working hard to “get rid of them” by giving credit to sites with real content.
But if you think about it who would link to one of those spammy sites? No one. The reason why? Because they are garbage sites. BUT - you would link to a site you like. One that you felt had value. One that you would like to visit again because you enjoyed the content.
Yes Articles Are Important
June 16, 2008
We all know that creating and submitting articles is an inexpensive way to create back links and traffic to your web site - but how many of us do it?
Everything we do takes time and creating articles is no different. Some people are terrified by the prospect of writing articles. Yes its another skill but it doesn’t have to be difficult.
Pretend you are writing a letter to your mother explaining what your product or service is. Of course there are a few more parts to it than that but this will get your started. Sometimes just getting that first paragraph written is enough to get you started and your “brain to hand” motion working.
Links Really Do Affect Search Rankings
January 21, 2008
Do links really affect your rankings with the search engines - YES absolutely!
I know, getting links is a real pain in the A$$ but it truly is necessary.
One of the best ways to get links that are very effective is to get an account at 3 Way Links. This is a great service created by Jonathan Leger and its worth every penny. I tested this service using a brand new e-commerce site. For those of you who have an e-commerce site, you will know that getting good search engine ranking is harder than getting ranking for a one product sales page. The site I used was www.DoodleMyShoes.com. Using the 3 Way Links system shot that new e-commerce site to page one of Google for many of the keywords I was looking for.
Video - A Hot Sales Tool
December 20, 2007
Notice I didn’t say that video was a new sales tool - because it isn’t. There are lots of video hosting services and sites out there and the really clever people are taking advantage of it. Using video is another way to get traffic and there are a couple different ways to do it.
The first one is a terrific way to include video on your web site without hosting the video on your server. Loading this script as part of your web site will bring in keyword targeted videos for your visitors to watch.
It utilizes YouTube™ and the really cool part about this product is the way it uses keywords to display specific videos on your web site. If your web site is about golfing, now you can show just the YouTube™ videos related to golf.
Pay Per Click Advertising
November 14, 2007
Inexpensive and effective, pay-per-click programs allow you to pay for advertising only when people actually visit your website. Programs such as Google AdWords and Yahoo! Overture list links to your website along with brief descriptions on search engines, usually on the first, second, or third page of results depending on the amount you “bid” for each keyword, and the maximum amount per click you set.
